How to get to Plitvice Lakes National Park?

The nearest airport to Plitvice Lakes National Park is Franjo Tuđman Airport Zagreb, which is approximately 142km away.

By Bus: 
Franjo Tuđman Airport is connected to the city center by the regular bus service. From there, you can take a bus to the Zagreb Bus Station (Autobusni Kolodvor Zagreb) to catch a bus to Plitvice Lakes National Park. The journey takes around 2.5h and costs upwards of €12 per adult. By Car:
If you have hired a car for pick-up at the airport, it is an easy drive to Plitvice Lakes National Park, taking around 2 hours journey.

Things to know before visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park

Opening Hours

The park is open to visitors all year round, 365 days.

Operating hours are from 0700 – 2000 daily, although ticket sales ends at 1700. During the winter, not all parts of the park is opened to visitors due to the unpredictable weather conditions. Remember to check the details before visiting on the official website

If you plan to visit in summer, it can get crowded. It is advisable to book your tickets online to avoid disappointment. 

Price List

There are 2 types of tickets available for purchase: daily ticket or two-day tickets. 

Prices of the entrance tickets range from €10 to €39.80, depending on the different seasons. Included in the ticket prices are the panoramic boat rides and train rides.

Where to stay near Plitvice Lakes National Park

Convenience: Hotel Jezero 3*

Pros: Located within the park boundaries, only 300m from Lake Kozjak. Especially nice if you plan to visit both the upper and lower lakes, making it a full day tour or if you are holding a two-day ticket. No transportation is needed, it is walkable to the park.

Cons: The hotel may be a little dated although it still works great for a night’s stay. 

Comfort: Hotel Mirjana & Rastoke 4*

Pros: A luxury 4* hotel, probably the most comfortable hotel in the region! Offers a great breakfast buffet to fuel up before spending the day in the park. 

Cons: It is located in Slunj, approximately 30 minutes drive from the park. The hotel has their own travel agency, you can even book a private tour to Plitvice Lakes!
