1. Take a traditional Pletna boat ride to the island

The pletna boat is a traditional wooden row boat in the Bled region. The people who row the boat are called pletnars, and this is not a job for everyone. Not only do you need to have the skills and muscle for rowing, you also need to have a licence. These licenses were issued during the reign of Maria Theresa and from then, it has been passed down the generations.

Nowadays there are electric boats going to the island, however if you want a traditional experience, be sure to take the pletna boat.
